Hooray for the USA!

Red, White and Blue is our theme the 4th week of June. We talked about the the American flag and also made one with our hands. We love getting our hands all messy.  We also splatter painted with red, white and blue and made windsocks.  We ate sparkler pretzel sticks and had a 4th of July party, with water play and lot's of yummy treats.

Our theme for the 3rd week of June was colors. And our letter was -G-, we made butterflys out of two  capitol letter G's and glued them back to back, they turned out fabulous.  GREEN- we colored a gorilla with different types of green median's; crayons, markers, chalk and pencils.  YELLOW- we colored a giraffe by rolling a piece of yellow chalk on it's side and used brown paint and cottonballs for the spots.  BLUE- finger painted a blue sky on a big piece of poster board, this was a great group project, we used our coorporation and patience to accomplish this and we did great.  RED- we made red goats out of recyled materials.  PURPLE- we created a rainbow of handprints on our poster board of the sky. We reviewed our sign language A-G.

AHOY MATTE!  Our theme for week 2 in June was Pirates.  Oh my we had so much fun this week with all our different advcntures.  We walked the plank and a had a real treausre hunt with a map marked with an X on it, that is were we found a big treasure box.  We all carried it together and got to choose something special from it . We also made a pirate flag all by ourselves.  This week we made a special gift for all our dad's with our handprints and picture on it and wrapped it up pretty . We had a field trip to Bounce U and that was a lot of fun! So much bouncing and climbing, all that movement helps keep our bodies healthy.

                                                              Beach Party Mania!

Our theme for the 1st week of June was The Beach. We made sand and sea shell collages, we did star fish stamping and added google eyes, made beautiful sea shell necklace and  had a beach party. We even to a trip to Chik Fil A to have lunch and play.  We had lot's of fun talking about what we take to the beach; sunglasses, sunscreen, cookies and a ball was some of the items the children named.

 BABY ANIMALS... We welcomed Paisley's puppies into the world.  They are so cute, they now have there eyes open and we can hold them.  We talked about the names of baby animals for example a horse is a foal.  We were taught horse in sign language and reviewed A and B in sign language.  Our friend Brenna is now reading on her own, we are all so proud of her.  She read us the book Biscuit in circle this week.  Our biggest adventure this month was a trip to Vaughn's Farm, wow we had so much fun.  We visited the chickens and the pigs, picked strawberries, played in the play area and had a picnic.

SPACE- We are going to be visiting outer space next week, and learn what's out in the dark night sky's.  We are going to splatter paint white paint onto black paper. Make a telescope out of a paper towel roll, make alien blob's and of course make our own space ships.  Some of our older friends will be writing words related to outer space.

SUMMER DAYS!

KIDS ZUMBA was introduced to our pre-school friends this month in addition to the yoga we already do each day.  We all have lot's of fun learning our routines to fun pre-school music.

We completed the alphabet with the letter Z.  We painted zebra stripes on popsicle sticks and then glued them into the shape of a Z. Some of us love writing the letter Z, and the older friends wrote Z words.

We started our month off with, BUGS EVERYWHERE.  We made edible ant hills with crushed graham crackers and raisins, we also ate some mud and worms. We painted wooden shaped butterfly and hung them in our classroom.  We painted ants tunnels with our fingers, this was fun and messy.  We stamped  ladybugs on paper and counted them.  We went to the library for storytime and a puppet show.  We started over in the Alphabet with the letter A.


THE WILD WEST was our next theme, we learned about cowboys and cowgirls.  We had stick horse races and made trail mix to eat out on the range.  Our teachers made most wanted posters for each of us with our picture on them.  We dug for gold ( painted corn kernels) and then made a picture with it.

APRIL HAS BLOWN IN....

      April wll bring spring showers and windy day's. Our weather warms up, and we head outdoors for lot's of healthy play time. 
      Our themes this month are: OUR NEED FOR SEEDS...We will learn what plant's need to grow.  SPRING SHOWERS AND WINDY DAYS...We will be counting and painting raindrops. EARTH WEEK...We will talk about the things we can do to keep our planet nice. RECYCLING...We will make project 's with item's we have saved to re-use. We will be learning the sign for the letter's, U,V,W and X. These are just a few of the fun thing's we will be doing the month of April.
      We will be taking a trip to Mcdonald's to play and have lunch, all ten of us.  We will also go to the library for storytime, afterward's we will have a PB&J picnic.

IT'S A SEUSSICAL WEEK...

      This week we are all about Dr. Seuss.  We will be reading his stories everyday, and doing lot's of  fun Seuss activities.  We will make Thing 1 and Thing 2 handprints, Dr. Seuss top hats, painting our faces like a cat(that tickled), we will make our own ABC book, and many more things.  Our letter this week is -Q-, we learned to sign it and write it.

Our five senses

This week we are talking about our five senses.

- We have felt different textures
-We have smelled different things and tried to guess what they were
-We have played eye-spy with our little eyes
-We have listened for different sounds and wrote them down
-We have painted with jello
-We have tasted sour, sweet and salty treats

What fun it has been to discover all the fascinating things our bodies can do.

Our letter this week is -P- ; we have made a collage with different -P- items and we learned -P- in sign language.

HEART'S AND FRIENDSHIP

We visited the library today, and the theme for storytime was "giving valentines".  Which was perfect because that is our theme. For the next two weeks we will be having fun with "Hearts" and "Friendship".  We will be making lot's of fun crafts with hearts, like heart puzzles. We will celebrate our friends by making friendship fruit salad, having a valentine's party and exchanging cards and special treats, with all our friends.  Our letter's will be "N" and "O".  We will learn the sign for them and practice writing them.

We LOVE February

DRAGONS AND CHINESE NEW YEAR our first theme of February.  We are making paper lanterns, dragons out of egg cartons, painting with chopsticks and eating Chinese noodles and veggies.  Our letter this week is "M".

Winter Time...

We have been having such a good time with our winter themes.  We have created a snowstorm by splattering white paint on black paper, the children had so much fun creating this. We are counting snowflakes, snowballs and snowmen.  We have several mobile's hanging from our classroom ceiling with pretty snowflakes that we painted with glitter, and we are adding snowmen this week to our mobiles. We are reading all sorts of books that pertain to our theme like A Silly Snowy Day, and Clifford's First Snow Day.
